“Dare to Play”with Bernadette Curran-June 28th

Bernadette will share her playful approach to clay by transforming simple pottery shapes into zoomorphic forms and their humble abodes.  From quick gesture drawings on paper to more imposing alterations of pots thrown fresh off the wheel, the spontaneity will allow for both functional and sculptural solutions. Emphasis will be on techniques such as folding, bottomless cylinders, turning inside out, and pushing the clay

“Making Lively Pots” with Gay Smith-July 26th,

Exciting and easily utilized possibilities are presented in this workshop on altering the forms and surfaces of freshly thrown pots. The immediacy of working with soft clay conveys an attractive spontaneity and enlivens and animates the finished pieces. Methods of squaring, ovaling, fluting, and faceting will be covered, along with lidded forms, attachments, handles and feet, and finishing touches

“Form & Surface” with Brenda Quinn-August  16th,

Brenda will demonstrate a range of forming techniques and surface techniques, both pre and post bisque.  Several forms, including a platter, will be made using press molds, hump molds and extruded parts.  Glazing techniques will also be demonstrated.

During the summer season, the featured artist will demonstrate their pottery making and decorating techniques on the day of their opening reception.  These demos are an opportunity for students, collectors, and clay enthusiasts to meet the artist, observe the artist as they make their signature pots and discover the true meaning behind their work and passion.

Artist demonstration will begin at 9 am and end at 4 pm.  There will be an hour lunch break at noon.
